Introduction

In 2003 ALTA started cooperation with an international consulting firm Cubiks, thus becoming a licenced partner representing Cubiks on the Polish market.

Cubiks is a specialist consulting firm operating in the field of HR. it provides its clients from around the globe with cutting edge solutions, methods and tools for supporting the processes of recruitment, selection, assessment and development, which tools allow for recognising the employee potential best suited to the needs of their organisation, they also help to plan effective development activity.

At an early stage of our cooperation we dealt with preparing the Polish version of the online assessment platform CubiksOnline and adaptation of the first selected psychometric tests, which enabled us to introduce to the Polish market a personality questionnaire PAPI and the first of a series of analytical tests Reasoning for Business. In the following years we participated in the development works of the ITP Cubiks team, our role was to conduct validation and normalisation studies and to develop new procedures.

While cooperating with Cubiks we carried out the following projects:

Localisation of the online assessment platform CubiksOnline

The CubiksOnline platform is an environment available in many language versions, in their administrative aspect, the tests and report generating modules. ALTA is responsible for the Polish version of the platform.

Cultural adaptation of the PAPI questionnaire

PAPI (Personality and Preference Inventory) is a work-related personality assessment method. It consists of two independent questionnaires – the ipsative version called PAPI-I and the normative version called PAPI-N.

The original version of the PAPI test was developed by Max Kostick under the huge influence of Henry Murray. As a result of a major revision of the questionnaire, the version which was introduced to the Polish market in 2004 had been developed at the end of 1996.

The PAPI questionnaire consists of 20 main scales, 10 of which measure Needs and the other 10 measure Roles. They are a part of a 7-factor structure, based on the factor analysis method, 20 scales are grouped into 7 wider domains – marked as: Active Domination, Conscientiousness and Perseverance, Openness, Social Bahaviour, Work Pace, Agreeableness, Achievement Seeking.

The ALTA team conducted the full procedure of cultural adaptation of the PAPI questionnaire, its normalisation for several target groups and prepared texts serving as results interpretation in reports.

Developing Polish versions of the analytical tests Reasoning for Business and Problem Solving

Analytical tests allow for assessment of the ability to analyse data presented in the form of graphs, diagrams, tables and drawing conclusions on the basis of the provided information.

The ALTA team translated and adapter the tests in 2007, after that normalisation studies were conducted, where the first sample encompassed 565 persons (286 women and 279 men), all of them working in managerial and non-managerial positions, aged 19-56.

PAPI 3 the first questionnaire developed by a multinational and multilingual team

Several years after developing the second version of PAPI in 2011 the need to update the test was seen, which entailed the development of the third version of PAPI.

PAPI 3 in its final shape was created in March 2014 as an effect of an R&D project lasting three years and involving psychologists from Cubiks as well as consultants and clients from 15 countries. The fact that the multinational and multicultural context was taken into account throughout the process of the third PAPI revision rendered it very different from the painstakingly long process of the second revision.
