Aim:

Creating an innovative diagnostic training system for cognitive assessment and training and assessing current cognitive functioning.

The achieved results:

The end effect of the project is a computerised system for cognitive functioning assessment, analysing the obtained results and designing a customised training procedure.

The system comprises:

  • a set of psychological test for assessment and monitoring the cognitive functioning of the testees including:
    • logical reasoning
    • perceptiveness
    • operational memory
    • concentration and attention
  • A set of tasks stimulating cognitive development (complete with the necessary technological infrastructure enabling the training management).
  • A psycho-physiological recording device for training support.

  • A short test for assessing the current cognitive and psychomotor functioning.

Potential benefits from the implementation:

Increased effectiveness of organisation employees

The implementation of the diagnostic training module will enable unrestricted access to the platform thus allowing any officer to assess his/her own cognitive potential and take action to develop the selected abilities.

Arousing the motivation for self-development

An uninhibited access to the diagnostic and training platform raises intrinsic motivation for assuming responsibility for one’s own development.

Reduced risk concerning the selection of employees for challenging tasks

The assessment of current psychophysiological ability prior to delegating particularly challenging and dangerous tasks enables taking the decision on the basis of collected information.

Identification of potential problems

Monitoring the current cognitive functioning allows for an early identification of potential problems and taking appropriate measures.

Possible areas of application:

  • Supporting officers’ self-development
  • Managing the employee potential
  • Selection of officers for challenging tasks
  • Monitoring and identification of potential personal difficulties

Scope of responsibility of the ALTA team:

The psychological aspect:

  • developing theoretical assumptions for designing tests and training programmes for assessing the predetermined criteria; variable operationalization.
  • Developing diagnostic tests for assessing
    • reasoning
    • perceptiveness
    • operational memory
    • concentration and attention
  • designing a set of tasks for stimulating the development of cognitive processes (games)
  • developing theoretical assumptions for the quick test for assessing current cognitive ability
  • designing validation studies, psychometric analysis and presentation of results
  • developing a quick test for assessing the current cognitive functioning

The technological aspect:

Designing a fully functional online platform which – following the implementation of the above mentioned diagnostic and training tools – will perform the functions of a test-training module as well as of a test of current cognitive and psychomotor ability.

The implementation of the test of current cognitive and psychomotor ability on mobile devices will allow for its operational use.

Designing, hardware and programming implementation of the psychophysiological module in the form of a technology demonstrator.
